Meet Coach Mike Abbott

Over 20 Years of College Lacrosse Experience
Coach Mike Abbott brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the recruiting process, both as a former national champion player and as one of the top offensive minds in college lacrosse. As a player, he was part of the 2003 NCAA Division I National Championship team at the University of Virginia before transferring to SUNY Cortland, where he led the Red Dragons to a Division III National Title in 2006. Over his career, he earned First-Team All-American honors, racked up 114 points in just two seasons, and was recognized as ECAC Upstate New York and SUNYAC Player of the Year.
Following his decorated playing career, Coach Abbott turned his focus to developing the next generation of athletes. He began at SUNY Cortland as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator before moving on to Colgate University, where he helped orchestrate some of the most productive offenses in program history and guided the team to Patriot League championships and NCAA tournament appearances. He later joined the staff at the University of Pennsylvania, where he rose to Associate Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator, leading one of the nation’s most dynamic offenses and mentoring countless All-Ivy and All-American players. Today, he serves as the Moses Family Associate Head Coach at Hobart College, continuing to shape elite student-athletes both on and off the field.
Coach Abbott’s unique perspective—having excelled as a player at the highest levels and as a coach across multiple top programs—gives families and athletes rare insight into what college coaches are truly looking for. His passion, network, and proven track record make him an invaluable resource for anyone navigating the recruiting process.
